LANHAM, Md. (WNEW) — Thousands of trucks are getting ready to hit the roads this afternoon in Maryland and Virginia, where several inches of snow are imminent.
Coming off several days of sub-freezing temperatures, the roads in Maryland are too cold to apply salt brine because there’s a good chance it could freeze, WNEW’s John Domen reports.

Maryland State Highway hopes the salt applied to the roads on Saturday could pick up the slack.
But the advice in both states is to stay off the roads once the snow starts falling.
The highest expected snow fall totals in our region are further south, with some areas preparing for up to 14 inches.
Snow could begin falling as early as 2 p.m.
